A University of South Carolina graduate, Darla Moore is one of the most powerful women in business today.


Darla Moore, Vice President of Rainwater, Inc., is founder and chair of the Palmetto Institute, a nonprofit think tank aimed at bolstering per capita income in South Carolina. She has served on the boards of the University of South Carolina and New York University Medical School and Hospital. The University of South Carolina's business school is named in her honor, she is the first woman profiled on the cover of Fortune magazine and was also named to the list of the "Top 50 Most Powerful Women in American Business".

Darla MooreDarla Moore has served on numerous corporate boards, including Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) and Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, The South Financial Group, MPS Group, and the National Advisory Board of JP Morgan, and was formerly a managing director of its predecessor, Chemical Bank. She received the "Business Person of the Year Award" from the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce and has been inducted into the South Carolina Business Hall of Fame. A graduate of the University of South Carolina, Moore holds an MBA from The George Washington University.
