Steps of McKissick Museum
The McKissick Museum, home to the Visitor Center, is where you’ll start and end your tour. Right outside this building are steps and beautiful columns that add depth to any photo. And since it’s right on the Horseshoe, you’ll surely find a Gamecock to take the picture and answer any questions you may have.
Greene Street Gates
A fun part about USC is Greene Street, the road that runs right through the heart
of campus. It used to serve as a functioning road, but now gates block traffic to
make it walkable for students and visitors! This street also hosts countless events,
such as Hip Hop Wednesday, and is a part of every Gamecock’s daily commute.
Russell House Courtyard
Russell House, our student union, is home to multiple restaurants, mail services and
an underground hangout space. Outside of Russell there is a courtyard with colorful
seating where students meet up to eat, study and participate in social events. There
are also plenty of friendly squirrels who might want to take a selfie (or you know,
steal a Chick-fil-a fry or two)!
Thomas Cooper Fountain
One of the most iconic sights on campus is the fountain outside of Thomas Cooper Library.
The fountain is flanked by benches and flowering trees and is a go-to photo-op for
incoming students and graduates. Plus, if you get the lighting just right, you can catch a rainbow in the mist from the spraying water!
Longstreet Theatre
The historic Longstreet Theatre is another great spot for the perfect Instagram post.
Whether you’re by the entrance or the palm trees and flowerbeds that adorn its sides,
your photos will not disappoint. Longstreet Theatre is also a popular spot for group
photos, so grab your friends and family for a picture-perfect group shot!
Cocky Statue
The Cocky statue is by far the best Instagram photo spot on your tour. This statue of everyone’s favorite mascot was unveiled in 2017 and stands at 6’5” and weighs 773 pounds. Students and visitors alike flock around for this iconic Gamecock shot. Just make sure you add a “Spurs Up!” 🤙
