Accounting

With programs and concentrations at all academic levels, the School of Accounting at the Darla Moore School of Business offers something for everyone.

The School of Accounting offers an undergraduate major in accounting, master's degree programs in Business Measurement & Assurance and Taxation, and a concentration within the Ph.D. program in Business Administration.

We encourage our students to get involved through our several accounting student organizations.  The Moore School is also home to the Center for Advancement of Accounting (CAA).

Our Mission

Three interrelated missions of education, scholarship, and service comprise the overall mission of the School of Accounting. The School of Accounting is dedicated to excellence in all three missions. The missions are as follows:

Education Mission

Prepare students to become either (1) successful accounting professionals in a global information society, or (2) Ph.D. qualified accounting academics.

Scholarship Mission

Contribute to the accounting discipline and profession through the discovery, integration, and application of knowledge.

Service Mission

Contribute to the international, national, state, and local academic and professional communities.

Performance measurement systems research

A group of undergraduate students from the Darla Moore School of Business, under the guidance of School of Accounting lecturer Stan Smith, are conducting a survey on Performance Measurement Systems.  The purpose of this survey is to identify and understand the correlation between the success or failure of a company's initiatives and the effectiveness of its measurement system.  The reslts of the survey will be summarized and reported so that companies will learn more about the dynacis behind the performance measurement system, ultimately leading to better decisions. Click here to learn more!
