Life in Columbia

Students can enjoy the atmosphere of the university while also enjoying the amenities of a mid-sized city, all within minutes of the campus.

Life and Arts

Columbia has several areas for college students to enjoy, including the historic Five Points area and the newly reinvigorated Vista district. Students can tap into the history of Columbia and South Carolina by visiting the many museums, historic homes, and repurposed buildings, some of which are now used as shops and restaurants.

And there is no lack of natural resources to enjoy in Columbia and the surrounding areas. Lake Murray, Finlay Park, Congaree National Park, and Riverbanks Zoo are just a few of the attractions that draw people from near and far.

Central Location

The city of Columbia also serves as a great location for students. With beaches and mountains, as well as cities like Charleston, Charlotte, Atlanta, Hilton Head, and Myrtle Beach within a few hours' drive, Columbia's centralized location makes it the perfect place to go to school.
