Graduate Division - Student Services Manager I, Band 6


Assists the Graduate Division in recruiting well-qualified and diverse candidates for all Masters programs.

1. On-campus Recruiting Events: On-campus recruiting event coordination.

2. External Recruiting: Off-campus recruiting event participation (travel required). Candidate communication management. Frequent overnight travel may be required.

3. Marketing and Communications: Assist with DMSB and Graduate Division related communications, PR and marketing collateral development. Manage and build upon social media platforms that focus on outreach to graduate students for the purposes of enrollment.

Must be an effective team member, planner, presenter, and motivator. Graduate Division - Student Services Manager I - Band 6


As Program Manager for the Graduate Division, this role includes core responsibilities for the overall student experience. This includes detailed focus on the functioning of the academic and co-curricular experience, working with faculty and staff within the school to resolve issues and improve processing times and service levels. This role has main management over the Professional MBA and Executive IMBA programs and, as such, requires daily communication and management of over 380 working professional students. This role is central to increasing the stature and branding of the Moore School as it touches so many graduate-level students.

1 .Student Services: Assist in design, development and implementation of student programs, recommend changes in policies and procedures, supply elective enrollment data and create, post and inform students of recommended electives and program requirements for electives.

2. Student Information: Communicate with incoming/current students on a regular basis answering program specific/University-wide questions, disseminating pre-program assignments and ensuring submission of required materials so that the student will have a smooth matriculation into the program.

3. Student Records: Maintain student files, manage student registration process, drop/add process, grade change process, pass/fail process.

4. Registration: Serve as primary point of contact for Registrar's Office and USC Graduate School for various process/policy procedures.

5. Content Management: Maintain program on-line resources. Manage Blackboard information. Manage course evaluation process for all.

6. Student Services: Manage process of notifying/tracking students who are placed on academic probation and/or become academically suspended. Maintain student tracking database from matriculation to graduation--supply data to various offices when requested.

7. Site Coordination: Work with and assist technology team and faculty in delivering PMBA courses and other co-curricular activities to all PMBA-designated locations. Manage communications among all PMBA students with goal of unified communication strategy.  Frequent overnight travel may be required.

8. Miscellaneous: Perform other duties as requested. Participate/assist with the Moore School graduation Hooding Ceremony, new student orientation, Office of Career Management and admissions events.  

Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in Student Personnel Services or a related field and four (4) years related experience, or a bachelor's degree and six (6) years related experience.

Office of Information Technology Services - Database Administrator II, Band 7

Administers internal and hosted database management systems; derives physical database designs, develops logical data models, creates physical databases, and creates data services for displaying, manipulating, and analyzing data. Manage and maintain databases, oversees the development and maintenance of data standards; serves as key stakeholder manager for internal data consumers.

Regularly meets with internal stakeholders to determine information needs and database requirements. Innovation Chair

 

 The Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina invites nominations and applications for the recently endowed Innovation Chair affiliated with the Center for Economic Excellence in the Hydrogen Economy.  We are seeking leading scholars in areas relating to commercialization, intellectual property, entrepreneurship and new ventures, and innovation.  The position requires both impressive scholarly credentials and significant applied expertise.  

The Innovation Chair was established as part of the South Carolina SmartState Program.  This program authorizes use of state funds provided by the South Carolina Education Lottery (when matched by private giving) to create Centers of Economic Excellence that will advance the South Carolina economy.  To date, over fifteen such centers have been created at the University of South Carolina.  The Center of Economic Excellence for the Hydrogen Economy was created with the support of Fluor Corporation and Savannah River Nuclear Solutions.  It will support both the Innovation Chair in the Darla Moore School of Business and the Discovery Chair in the College of Engineering and Computing. 

The Innovation Chair will be expected to conduct scholarly research, teach at the undergraduate and graduate level, and interface with Discovery Chair as well as the Chairs affiliated with the other Centers of Economic Excellence.  Working with clinical faculty within Darla Moore School of Business, the Innovation Chair is expected to provide guidance to Chairs affiliated with Centers for Economic Excellence as well as other faculty on matters relating to commercialization, intellectual property, new ventures, innovation, and entrepreneurship. 

The Innovation Chair should have a Ph.D. in Economics or a Business-related discipline, a distinguished scholarly record, significant applied expertise, and the ability to collaborate across diverse units within USC.    The Innovation Chair’s tenure home will be in an academic department in the Moore School of Business.  We will begin reviewing credentials for candidates on January 20 and will continue until the position is filled.  Nominations and applications should be submitted to: innovation@moore.sc.edu .  The desired start date is August, 2012, but later start dates will be considered as appropriate.

Program Manager II - Director of Development

Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Development and the Dean of the Darla Moore School of Business, the Director of Development will build, manage and steward a major gift portfolio benefiting the School with an emphasis on major gifts, both current and future.

Identify, cultivate and solicit prospective donors, including individuals, foundations and corporations; provide stewardship for assigned donors; assist in maintaining prospect tracking information in Millennium and other central databases. Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree and seven (7) years relevant program experience, or a bachelor's degree and nine (9) years relevant program experience.

Preferred Qualifications:  Baccalaureate degree from accredited college or university. Three or more years of successful higher education or related fundraising/development experience.   Thorough knowledge of principles and methods of planning and conducting a comprehensive fundraising program.  Ability to establish good working relationships with faculty, alumni, donors, volunteers, businesses and the general public.  Willingness to travel as required by the geographic location of donors/prospects. Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends, as necessary.  Outstanding oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Effective computer experience including database operation and word processing.

Tenure-track Faculty Position - Management Science Department

The Management Science Department invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant, senior assistant, or associate professor within Operations and Supply Chain Management group. An ideal candidate would demonstrate a proven ability to produce high impact research and excellence in graduate and undergraduate teaching, along with an interest in developing a competence in executive education and business outreach. Our group has a vibrant doctoral program and an expectation for this position is to teach doctoral seminars and serve as an advisor for doctoral student dissertations. Qualifications for this position include a Ph.D. or DBA in Operations Management/Supply Chain Management or a closely related field. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong training in empirical methods, including the use of secondary data.  Salary and compensation is highly competitive and commensurate with experience and achievements.

Clinical Faculty - Department of Management Science

The Department of Management Science seeks a full-time Clinical Faculty Member to teach operations & supply chain management courses and mentor student projects within the Center for Global Supply Chain and Process Management (GSCPM). The primary responsibilities are to teach undergraduate and master’s level operations and supply chain courses, lead and actively manage student projects with Center partners and help develop additional corporate partners. The selected candidate must be able to:
• Teach in a broad range of potential supply chain and operations courses
• Work with Center partners to identify value creation opportunities for student projects with specific metrics
• Guide student project teams through problem definition, issue identification and development of project plans
 
Qualifications:
A proven track record and 5+ years of experience in one or more of these areas:
• Supply chain and process improvement implementation
• Consulting or international supply chain/procurement/ logistics/lean experience with a major firm
• Supply chain analytics and value assessment including estimated and actual landed costs
• Process reengineering
• Supply chain optimization
• Teaching in one or more of the following areas: lean systems, process management, six sigma, production planning and control systems, procurement, supply chain design, and
   principles of operations management
 
A Ph.D. in operations and supply chain management or a related area is highly desirable, but not required. This is a non-tenure track position. The position would have full employment benefits. Department of Management - Full Professor in the area of leadership (broadly defined)

(This position is being funded by the Office of the Provost as part of a faculty replenishment initiative. The proposal that was funded stipulates that the candidate will have to capacity to teach and conduct research in areas relating to leadership, that they have the capacity for research and teaching that is interdisciplinary in nature, and that they are able to contribute to MBA type programs, doctoral education, and the undergraduate curriculum.) 
Position requires a doctoral degree in management or related field and the ability to teach specialized and required courses in leadership at both the undergraduate and graduate level.  It is particularly critical that the candidate be able to contribute effectively to both MBA type programs and also doctoral education. We view leadership as an area that encompasses a broad range of topics within the areas of organizational behavior, HR, conflict and negotiations, and corporate and social responsibility. We welcome candidates with different areas of specialization relating to leadership.  It is critical that the candidate’s teaching and research is informed by an interdisciplinary perspective.  The position requires an extensive record of publication in leading journals, one consistent with that of a full professor at a major research university.  The capacity to play a lead role with regard to governance issues is also required.

Assistant/Associate Professor of International Business

Professor of Marketing

The Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina invites applications for a senior position in Marketing at the rank of professor, beginning August 2012. Eligible candidates must have a Ph.D. in marketing or related field. Candidates currently holding the rank of professor or those with excellent publication and teaching records at the rank of associate professor are encouraged to apply. Preferred candidates will demonstrate a sustained record of publication in top journals and high-quality instruction at undergraduate, MBA, and Ph.D. levels. We are seeking applicants with strong theoretical and methodological skills that can be applied to important questions at the intersection of marketing and public health (broadly defined). Prior success publishing health-related work in top-tier journals is ideal, but not essential.

The successful candidate would work closely with our excellent doctoral students, collaborate with other members of our highly productive research faculty and lead bridge-building efforts with faculty in public health, pharmacy and medicine. Some involvement in outreach efforts to the public and private health communities in the State of South Carolina is also desirable.

A competitive annual salary and benefit package is available to support this position, including a substantial start-up research budget. Teaching loads and summer support would be competitive with other top-level marketing departments.

The scheduling horizon is 2011-2015 and the appointment time period is flexible but is normally for one semester. The activities and responsibilities of the individual during the visiting professorship appointment may include developing joint international research activities with USC faculty, giving research seminars, teaching or guest lecturing on selected international topics, participating in executive education activities, and advising local business executives.
