Faculty Development

The University of South Carolina CIBER offers Faculty Development in International Business (FDIB) programs covering a wide variety of international business topics in locations throughout the world. The SC CIBER conducts two domestic FDIB Programs at its Columbia, SC campus in June of each year, and, as a member of several CIBER consortia, either sponsors or co-sponsors five other overseas FDIB Programs (two in January and three in May each year).

FDIB:  On-Campus Programs

  • 24rd Annual FDIB Seminars  (June 2012)
    An annual International Business faculty development seminar series hosted by the University of South Carolina CIBER in Columbia, SC, now in its 24th straight year. The week-long seminars—Global Supply Chain Management, International Negotiations, International Finance, International Management, International Marketing, Sustainable Enterprises and Development, and Survey of International Business—are designed for faculty who desire to teach or who are already teaching International Business courses, providing them with current techniques and expertise to further globalize their business courses. There are limited CIBER Scholarships available for these seminars.  To apply for this on-campus program and a CIBER scholarhsip, contact Nancy Beym.

FDIB:  Overseas Faculty Programs

  • CIBER LEADING EDGE ACTIVITY 
      (May 8-19, 2012)

    NOTE:  As of  October 12, 2011, this program is completely filled (36 participants) and due to the overwhelming response and interest in the program, no more applications will be accepted this year. Thank you for your continuing support, making this program a huge success.

    An annual Faculty and Professional Overseas Study program, sponsored and lead-managed by the University of South Carolina CIBER and co-sponsored by the CIBER universities of Florida, Florida International, Michigan, Michigan State and Texas A&M. This faculty and professional overseas study program—which also offers a "spouse/adult guest" concurrent program as well at a reduced rate —provides the participants with an opportunity to experience first-hand the business challenges of sub-Saharan Africa as they travel to Cape Town, South Africa; Livingstone and Victoria Falls, Zambia; and Chobe and Kasane, Botswana, as well as participate in numerous business visits, culture tours, and academic seminars. Click here -  FDIB-Africa Brochure - to view the brochure and the application form. Program fees (airfare to/from Africa not included) are set at:  Faculy/Professional - $3,500; Spouse/Adult Guest of Participant - $2,500; Graduate Student - $2,500. The program can accomodate up to 36 total particpants and guests, and the deadline for applications is November 1, 2011 (with space-A and waiting list after that date).
