University Libraries will launch its new website Wednesday, May 30 with a clean look and feel, clear navigation, improved search functions and easy-to-find information about services for students, faculty and staff.

Garden Grill is open Tuesday-Friday from 11:30a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Rental shop hours

Campus Recreation rental shop hours will be changing for the summer starting May 14.

TEDxUofSC announced; speaker nominations now open

The University of South Carolina announced Thursday (May 3) that it will host its inaugural TEDxUofSC Tuesday, Oct. 9. Licensed by TED, known for its popular “ideas worth spreading” concept, the university’s event will feature an array of short, powerful live talks and performances for the community and campus.

Yiming Ji

Breakthrough Leader: Yiming Ji

Trained as an aerospace engineer, Yiming Ji worked in the aerospace industry for several years before returning to school to study computer science. Inspired by the idea to train others to integrate computer science and engineering as he had done, Ji founded the computational science program at USC Beaufort, the only one of its kind in South Carolina.

Kari Croft

RISE above

Carolina alumna Kari Croft is the founder and principal of RISE High, a charter school in Los Angeles. Croft was awarded a $10 million grant to start the school.

Assistant professor of management Joel Wooten researches innovation and entrepreneurship and has considerable experience with innovation contests, including XPRIZE in Los Angeles. Now he wants to take the spirit of creative competition into orbit.
