The University of South Carolina CIBER offers Faculty Development in International Business (FDIB) programs covering a wide variety of international business topics in locations throughout the world. The SC CIBER conducts two FDIB Programs at its Columbia, SC campus in June of each year, and, as a member of several CIBER consortia, either sponsors or co-sponsors six other overseas FDIB Programs (three in January and three in May each year).
FDIB: On-Campus Programs
- 21th Annual FDIB Seminars (June 14-20, 2009)
An annual International Business faculty development seminar series hosted by the University of South Carolina CIBER in Columbia, SC, now in its 21th straight year. The week-long seminars - Global Supply Chain Management, International Accounting, International Finance, International Management, International Marketing, and Survey of International Business - are designed for faculty who desire to teach or who are already teaching International Business courses, providing them with current techniques and expertise to further globalize their business courses. - 20th Annual FDIB-Spanish Workshop (June 14-20, 2009)
An annual workshop designed for Professors of Spanish, hosted by the University of South Carolina CIBER for the 20th straight year. The week-long seminar, conducted on the Columbia, SC campus concurrently with the Annual International Business FDIB Seminars, is designed to provide Spanish-language faculty with the expertise and knowledge to instruct Business Spanish in the world of international business. CIBER LEADING EDGE ACTIVITY FDIB-Africa: Understanding the Business Challenges of Africa: Johannesburg and Pretoria, South Africa and Nairobi, Nakuru and Amboseli, Kenya (May 11-26, 2010) An annual Faculty Study Abroad program, sponsored and lead-managed by the University of South Carolina CIBER and co-sponsored by the CIBER universities of Colorado Denver, Connecticut, Florida, Florida International, Maryland, Memphis, Michigan, Michigan State, North Carolina, Pittsburgh, San Diego State and Texas A&M. This faculty study abroad program - open to all CIBER and non-CIBER faculty - provides the participants with an opportunity to experience first-hand the business challenges of sub-Saharan Africa as they travel to Johannesburg and Pretoria, South Africa and Nairobi, Nakuru and Amboseli, Kenya, as well as participate in numerous business visits, culture tours, and academic seminars. There are four total University of South Carolina CIBER scholarships available (University of South Carolina Moore School of Business Faculty-3; Outreach Faculty-1) for this program, as well as other scholarships available from the co-sponsorsing CIBERs. FDIB-India: New Dehli & Agra, India (Jan 2-13, 2010)
An annual Faculty Study Abroad program, sponsored and lead-managed by the
University of Connecticut (UCT) CIBER, and co-sponsored by the University of South Carolina CIBER and other CIBER and non-CIBER universities. This faculty study abroad program provides the partipants with an opportunity to experience first-hand the business environment of New Delhi, India, participating in numerous business visits and academic seminars, as well as traveling to visit one of the wonders of the modern world: the Taj Mahal in Agra. This faculty study abroad program allows particpants to visit the three countries of the Mercosur - Brazil, Argentina, and Chile - and combine business visits, academic seminars, and cultural tours into a professional experience of a lifetime.
