Biography
McKinley L. Blackburn, Professor of Economics, holds a B.S. in Economics from the
University of South Carolina, and an M.A. and Ph.D. from Harvard University. He spent a year as a
Visiting Fellow at the Russell Sage Foundation in New York. He currently teaches graduate courses
in econometrics and labor economics, as well as principles of economics to undergraduates.
Dr. Blackburn's current research interests lie in three areas: (1) the economics behind
family formation decisions; (2) the appropriate method for estimating the effects of individual
characteristics on their wages; and (3) racial discrimination in lending. His recent publications
includes articles in the
Industrial and Labor Relations Review, the
Journal of Human Resources, and
Labour Economics.
Dr. Blackburn received the 1998 Research Development Award for the Moore School of Business.
He is currently the graduate coordinator for economics, overseeing the M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics
programs.
