Biography

Dr. Martin is a Professor of Economics in the Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina.  He served as Chair of the Economics Department from 2001 - 2008, as Associate Dean for Operations from 1994 to 2000, and as Director of the Division of Research from 1983 to 1994.

On the faculty since 1970, Dr. Martin's areas of specialization are urban and regional economics and public finance.  He has published articles in such journals as The Southern Economic Journal, The Review of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Regional Science, and Applied Economics

Dr. Martin is listed in Who's Who in the South and Southwest and American Men and Women of Science.  He served as President of the Association for University Business and Economic Research (AUBER) during 1988-1989.  Consulting activities include projects for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Department of Commerce, Federal Preparedness Agency, S.C. Governor's Office, the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce, the South Carolina Education Oversight Committee plus other private and public organizations.  Current research and consulting interest are with educational policy issues.
