Job Placement Processes for Students
Various methods are employed to facilitate job placement for the Moore School graduate students,
all managed by
USC JobMate, USC’s custom
on-line service. The focus is on customer services, and in this role, the employer is the customer.
This employer focus, however, also benefits students because solid relationships are
built and maintained with key corporate, government, and non-profit entities. The following methods
are the most common:
-
On-campus recruiting: This process is the traditional method of employers
visiting campus to personally meet pre-selected candidates.
-
On-campus information sessions/receptions: This type event is designed to
introduce employers, available positions, etc. to targeted student populations.
These events provide students an excellent opportunity to learn about specific industries and/or
companies. In addition, these are often key networking events leading to future job opportunities.
-
Resume collections: This process allows employers to post positions for
which students "apply," although the employer's intentions may not be to initially visit
campus. Telephone or on-site interviews are the mechanisms used to match interested students with
employers.
-
Web resume books: All students active with
USC JobMate can upload a
general resume that is "published" in the Graduate Career Management Office Web Resume
book(s). The books are easily accessible to employers who have access to
USC JobMate. Web resume
books are published by program (IMBA, MHR, MACC, PMBA and MA Econ) and graduation year. For
IMBA interns, they are further divided by language track.
-
Consortium and conference participation:
Moore
is a member of the prestigious MBA Consortium, which hosts annual recruiting events in
New York, Atlanta, and Los Angeles. Learn more about the MBA Consortium and event participation by
viewing the
MBA Consortium Web Site.
- Moore also attends and supports the
International MBA/Masters Employer
Conference
, which was founded in 1994 by the top 50-ranked MBA programs in the United
States. Each year,
CareerConferences hosts a recruiting event in Orlando, Florida, which allows
international students to meet and and interview with leading global employers.
