Undergraduate Program

The Moore School of Business offers an undergraduate international business major that has been consistently ranked as #1 by  U.S.News & World Report - "America's Best Colleges Guide."  For more information about our rankings, click here.

Undergraduates interested in an international orientation may major in International Business. This major requires 15 credit hours of course work.  The international business major is designed to develop graduates who will eventually enter into leadership positions in international business and society.   Enrollment in the program is capped, so admission to the major is very competitive. Even highly capable students cannot be guaranteed admittance into the IB program. The Undergraduate International Business major requires a second major chosen from existing majors offered by the Moore School of Business.

The program of study includes:

  1. Five undergraduate International Business courses;
  2. Four advanced courses (300 level or above) in one of the following languages: Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, or other approved language;
  3. At least one study period outside the United States;
  4. A second major in another business discipline to be chosen from accounting, economics, finance, insurance and risk management, management, management science, marketing, or real estate.

Curriculum

The International Business major provides excellent grounding in international business and prepares students for the global challenges facing business leaders.

Class size limits
Admission is limited and highly competitive. Potential applicants should carefully plan a program of study that demonstrates their potential for success in the program. Foreign language study in the freshman and sophomore years is particularly important, so that the student’s ability to satisfy the program’s language requirement is demonstrated. Students will find the University’s study abroad opportunities helpful. Clearly, the student’s academic record at the University of South Carolina should reflect excellence in all aspects of the program of study selected.
