Entrepreneurship course project takes student team to Antigua

Thanks in part to a Moore School  student consulting team, Mount St. John's Hospital will open a premier medical tourism and local care facility in the Caribbean island of Antigua.  According to team member Kirk Gibson (IMBA Spanish Track '06), "This project  was really what I was hoping the IMBA experience could be all about. It was  a great teamwork experience and gave us the chance to work on an  international project which will have an impact on another country."
Woodward reveals study on effect of Mexican immigrants on South Carolina's economy

Low-cost, high-productivity workers from Mexico are becoming the new face of South Carolina's labor force as more industries in the state seek to hire them, according to research findings released by Dr. Douglas P. Woodward, economics professor and research director at the Moore School of Business.

Internships position grads well for the future

Michael Shipe (IMBA Global Track '06) discovers the complexities involved in operating a small business in a developing economy while on internship in Banja Luka, the capital of the Republic of Srpska in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). He also learned how factors such as culture and the business mindset of people affect management, marketing, and operations.
The Wave of the Future in corporate responsibility

Gary Parsons (MBA '78), chairman of the board of XM Satellite Radio, recently told graduate students that it is possible to practice good corporate governance while still keeping an eye on the bottom line. "There is no direct tension between corporate responsibility and good business decisions," Parsons said. In fact, he added, there is a positive correlation.
Winners named in second annual IMBA photo contest

A group of village elders in traditional African tribal dress, students decked out in colorful silk costumes that could have been worn by Chinese royalty, the shimmering Panama City skyline at dawn, and lava fields in the "Dragon’s Backbone" of China were announced February 10 as the best pictures of the 2006 IMBA contest.
Syngenta job takes alumna around the world

Alumna Ioana Tudor (IMBA European Track '97, formerly called the Vienna Track) enjoys a truly international career in biotechnology. She credits her graduate education with helping to prepare her to deal with cultural diversity. "The ability to shift from one culture to another, from one way of doing business to another, that's one of the things I learned from the business school because the IMBA-Vienna program was so international."
