U.S. Secretary of Commerce Addressed Moore School
U.S. Secretary of Commerce Carlos M. Gutierrez spoke to IMBA students about the important role that the hotly debated immigration reform legislation will play in the long-term economic growth and global competitiveness of the United States. IMBA Student Wins Two Association Scholarships
James Rollins, a second-year International MBA (IMBA) student at the Moore School, was recently awarded a $5,000 scholarship from the National Society of Hispanic MBAs for the second year in a row. Rollins, a 2006 Darla Moore Fellow, was also the recipient of the 2006 and 2007 scholarships from the National Black MBA Association, Inc.

  

New Faculty Development Course in Africa
In May 2007, Dr. Doug Woodward and Dr. Robert Rolfe, led the first annual Faculty Development in International Business program in Africa. During the 18-day trip, faculty learned about the economic, political, business, and cultural environments in sub-Saharan Africa. At left, faculty participants during their visit to Tanzania.

  

General Motors' IMBA Pipeline in Budapest
General Motors' strong relationship with the Moore School of Business has made the auto manufacturer a key part of the IMBA internship experience. During the last six years, GM’s Central and Eastern European regional headquarters in Budapest, Hungary, has served as a training ground for IMBA interns and a launching pad for IMBA graduates. Robin Emery Memorial Scholarship Recipient
Joshua Canfield, a second-year IMBA Spanish Track student and Peace Corps Fellow, is the 2007 recipient of the second-annual Robin Emery Memorial Scholarship award. Canfield won with his winning essay on this year’s topic, "The Role of Economic Development in the Struggle against Poverty."

  

Sonoco CEO Stresses Importance of Sustainability
During the sixth annual Wachovia Bank Executive Lecture Series, Harris E. DeLoach, Jr., chairman, president and CEO of Sonoco Products Company, explained to students that companies cannot afford to wait until the government imposes strict environmental and sustainability laws. Sonoco is leading the way by producing sustainable packaging and reducing its environmental footprint.
