Bio: After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Virginia Tech, I was a Supply Officer in the United States Navy before coming to the IMBA Program. My career in the military was focused on missions in Latin America, sending me to various countries that included Panama, Ecuador, Colombia, and Brazil. Once I left the military, I knew that I wanted a career which focused on Latin American business. That is why I chose the Moore School of Business - International MBA Program.
I am currently a 2nd year student in the Spanish Track. This past spring semester, I studied at the Instituto Tecnologico Estudios Superiores de Monterrey in Guadalajara, Mexico. This was great because I had an opportunity to improve my Spanish and take courses dealing with Latin America business.
This past summer I interned at Turner Broadcasting System in Mexico City, Mexico. I worked with the Distribution Sales Team for Latin America, selling networks that included CNN, Cartoon Network, and TNT. I created a market and sales analysis on new networks that Turner acquired using various revenue, client, and industry reports. I then had an opportunity to promote and sell these new channels to various clients in Mexico.
I hope to use these experiences to work in international mass media/television once I finish my studies. The academics in the International MBA program coupled with my overseas experiences will enhance my opportunities to achieve my goals.
Special interests/hobbies/skills: I enjoy independent films and performing
home improvements. I am also active with the National Black MBA Association and the National
Society of Hispanic MBAs.
