Students
begin their studies at the USC campus by drawing on the expertise of Moore School international
faculty. Core courses include: Globalization and Corporate Responsibility, Entrepreneurship,
Financial Accounting in the International Environment, Global Strategic Management, Decision
Analysis, Global Economics, Management Accounting in the Global Environment, Global Leadership and
Ethics, Global Finance, Global Marketing Management, International Management, Operations
Management, and Information Systems. The Wachovia Lecture Series runs simultaneously allowing
students to hear leaders in business speaking from their rich and practical experiences.
The French Track of the IMBA program at the Moore School prepares graduate students for effective business problem-solving in French-speaking countries. France, Belgium, and Switzerland are the first countries that come to mind, but one should not forget French Guiana, Martinique, the Ivory Coast, Senegal, Mali, or French Polynesia. A mobil manager well versed in the French language and culture is better prepared to contribute in the day-to-day activities of for-profit and non-profit entities.

Students move from USC to the prestigious ESC at its Clermont, France campus. Modern French language instruction will be provided using state-of-the-art audio visual tools in a well-equipped language lab. Before the students actually re-enter the workplace on internship, he or she will have had an average of 560 hours of language training including a segment about doing business in France. The in-country language immersion will also include field trips to companies and industries in Europe. At the end of this phase, the standardized T.E.F. exam of French language proficiency is administered, and a certificate is issued.
Students pursue internships that are structured assignments, for the most part, within large or small corporations or not for profit institutions where they are able to complete tasks based on their functional area of interest, i.e., finance, marketing, etc. Recent projects have been completed in Europe (France, Belgium, Switzerland) and Africa (Mali, Morocco, Senegal), but could take place in the French Caribbean, French Polynesia, or the French-speaking part of Canada, depending on visa criteria.
Upon
completion of their respective internships, students will have the option to return to the USC
campus to take courses they select in preparing toward a concentration, or they may take electives
abroad at one of the IMBA program partner institutions. Most IMBA candidates take advantage of the
outstanding Graduate Career Management resources on campus in Columbia to focus on their job search
in the Fall and opt to take electives in the Spring at institutions where exchange agreements have
been established, such as
ESCP-EAP ,
ESC Clermont, and
ISC-Paris that allow them to build on their Fench language skills.
