Biography
Bruce M. Meglino is Business Partnership Foundation Professor and Professor of Organizational Behavior and Management at the Moore School of Business of the University of South Carolina, Columbia. Dr. Meglino holds a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering and an M.S. degree in Industrial Management from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn, and a Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts with specialization in Organization Behavior, Social Psychology, and Organization Theory. He joined the faculty at the University of South Carolina in 1973 and was appointed Professor in 1982. He also serves as Visiting Professor of Organizational Behavior at the University of Economics and Business (Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien) in Vienna Austria. Dr. Meglino conducts research in the areas of work values, helping behavior, rationality, and realistic job previews. He was ranked 28th among Industrial and Organizational Psychologists worldwide based on his research productivity and has been elected a Fellow of the American Psychological Association, the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, the American Psychological Society, and the Southern Management Association. Dr. Meglino has been a project director for behavioral science research grants from the National Science Foundation, the Office of Naval Research, and the U.S. Army Research Institute. His articles have appeared in journals such as: Psychological Bulletin, Journal of Applied Psychology, Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Personnel Psychology, and Journal of Management. Dr. Meglino teaches undergraduate, masters, and Ph.D. courses in organizational behavior and management. He is a recipient of the Moore School of Business' Alfred G. Smith, Jr. award for teaching excellence and has been voted Management Professor of the Year by students of the Moore School of Business for five consecutive years. He has been elected an Honorary Faculty Initiate of Beta, Gamma, Sigma (the academic honor fraternity in business) and Delta, Sigma, Pi. Dr. Meglino serves on various editorial boards including the Journal of Applied Psychology and the Journal of Management. He is a consultant and expert witness on issues of employee behavior and organizational culture and has written and produced training and orientation films for the U.S. Marine Corps, the U.S. Army, and the South Carolina Department of Corrections. One of his films received national recognition in an American Correctional Association sponsored competition of films about prisons and prison life. Dr. Meglino conducts management and executive development programs for the Moore School of Business.
