Biography
Alokparna (Sonia) Basu Monga is Assistant Professor of Marketing at the Moore School of Business, University of South Carolina. She received her Ph.D. in marketing from the University of Minnesota in May 2004. Sonia's research interests lie in the area of consumer behavior, broadly focusing on how consumers respond to branding activities (e.g., brand extensions, co-branding) as a function of their inherent analytic or holistic processing styles, self-construal, cultural orientation, etc. Dr. Monga's research has appeared in or is forthcoming in the
Journal of Consumer Research, the
Journal of Marketing Research, and the
Journal of Consumer Psychology. She is currently on the Editorial Review Board of
the
Journal of Consumer Psychology. Prior to joining USC, she taught International
Marketing at the University of Texas at San Antonio. As a Ph.D. student, she also taught
Principles of Marketing at the University of Minnesota, for which she received the Lieberman award
for teaching excellence. Her teaching interests include Marketing Strategy, Principles of
Marketing, International Marketing and Brand Management.
