Ellen M. Moore
|
Biography
Ellen Moore received her BSBA and MA from Appalachian State University and MBA and
Ph.D. from the University of South Carolina. She serves on the faculty of the Moore
School of Business at the University of South Carolina. Dr. Moore is the former Director
of Business Relations, Director of Alumni Relations, Associate Director of the Graduate
Division and Director of MBA Programs for the business school. Previous teaching experience
includes Appalachian State University, University of Georgia, and Winthrop University.
She has published in journals such as
Journal of Consumer Research, The Journal of Consumer Affairs, and
Journal of Travel Research among others, and in conference proceedings to include
Advances in Consumer Research, AMA Educators’ Conference, Society for Marketing Advances,
Academy of Marketing Science, and
Southeastern Decision Sciences Institute. She has co-edited a text of essays by
distinguished marketing scholars and two conference proceedings. She received the Richard D.
Irwin Fellowship, ACR Doctoral Research Grant, Marketing Doctoral Student Teaching Award, and was
an AMA Doctoral Consortium Fellow. She received the Mortar Board Excellence in Teaching,
Bates West’s Best Professor, Delta Sigma Pi Honorary Faculty Initiate, Rotary Foundation District
Service Award, Rotary International District Rotarian of the Year, Greater Columbia Chamber of
Commerce Service Above & Beyond, and has been cited multiple times by the USC Division of
Student Services for significant contributions to student success and development.
Dr. Moore is active in a number of college, university, and civic programs. She serves on the faculty for the USC McNair Scholars program and conducts workshops for USC Human Resources Professional Development. Professional organizations include board member for the SC Association of Alumni Directors, Vice President for Development for the Society for Marketing Advances, and member of the Academy of Marketing Science and the American Marketing Association. She is a frequent speaker for civic groups and participates in church and community activities such as Leadership SC, SC Special Olympics, Habitat for Humanity, and Medical Missions, Inc. She is past President of the Rotary Club of Five Points, former Assistant Governor for Rotary District 7770, and currently serves as Area Foundation Coordinator for Rotary District 7770. She currently serves on the board of Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands and is a former board member for the Rotary Club of Five Points, Girl Scouts of the Congaree Area, former board president for Faculty Club at McCutchen House, and is listed in Who’s Who of American Women.
She and her spouse, Charles Wright Weston, live in Columbia, SC. She enjoys puttering in
the yard, reading mystery and spy novels, hiking, and playing with her animals.
