The Risk Management and Insurance Society (RMIS) is organized to promote, encourage, and sustain student interest in the risk management and insurance industry.

BENEFITS OF THE RISK MANAGEMENT AND INSURANCE SOCIETY

Scholarships. There are approximately 25 Scholarships for undergraduate business students in insurance and risk management . Click application to download it, then type in the information, print it, sign it, and turn it in. The date the application is due is indicated at the top right corner of the form. Students interested in insurance and risk management receive more scholarships than in any other major at the Moore School of Business, University of South Carolina .

Leadership.

Knowledge. Through active participation in RMIS, we all can grow in our knowledge about risk and insurance. This is only the first step in our journey toward success. RMIS fosters leadership by providing the opportunity for students to serve as officers and project leaders. Five faculty-appointed officer positions are awarded each year to members interested in serving the organization.

Commitment. A genuine interest in risk management and insurance is all that is required to get involved in RMIS. There are usually three RMIS meetings in the fall and one in the spring as well as a spring banquet in April for the scholarship and award presentations. This is your fraternity: the more you participate, the more we can accomplish together.

Industry Contact. Professionals in the insurance industry speak at monthly meetings. A special job placement meeting in the early spring guides students toward finding the job that they want. A book with resumes of our students goes to more than 100 employers. Faculty work individually with students for internship and job placement.
