Representatives of four South Carolina businesses and industries will speak at the First
Semi-Annual Global Supply Chain and Operations Management (GSCOM) Industry Speakers Summit, to be
held on Tuesday, Sept. 25, from 6 to 8 p.m. in Belk Auditorium of the Moore School of Business,
University of South Carolina.
The purpose of the summit is to highlight “the critical importance of global supply chain and
operations management competencies in successful performance of all types of organizations,” say
the event’s organizers. Speakers from Sonoco Products Co., Palmetto Health Richland,
Michelin, and Colonial Supplemental Insurance will “focus on the role of GSCOM strategies and
techniques in dictating and complementing overall business and marketing strategies to yield
competitive success.”
The summit will also feature rising professionals and current GSCOM students who will share
their work and internship experiences.
GSCOM is an undergraduate program that aims to produce students with state-of-the-art
knowledge and practical applied experiences in the twin competencies of “Operations and Business
Management Improvement” and “Global Supply Chain Design, Analysis, and Improvement.”
The program prepares students for GSCOM careers in manufacturing, service, and consulting
firm worldwide.
