Bulgarian Ambassador Speaks to IMBA Students

Our IMBA Global Track students in Dr. Tatiana Kostova's class had the honor of meeting with Elena Poptodorova, Ambassador of Bulgaria to the USA, who spoke to the class on Thursday, November 4. She spoke on "Opportunities and Challenges Bulgaria Faces as a New NATO Member and as a Forthcoming EU Member." Broadly, she addressed questions of recent economic and political developments in Central and Eastern Europe, the challenges in finding a balance between national sovereignty and economic integration (EU), as well as maintaining multiple loyalties (e.g., as in the case of small European nations who supported the US in the Iraq war while being considered for EU membership).
