EIMBA Group Attends Seminar in Vienna

Hofburg Palace in Vienna

Sixteen business executives from Mexico began the second year of the Moore School’s Executive International MBA (EIMBA) program with an international seminar in Vienna, Austria, July 2-9. “They are very interested in the EU (European Union),” said Libby Shropshier, program coordinator, “and so it was a good trip for our participants.”

This group is the inaugural class of the EIMBA program, which was launched in August 2004 and is offered jointly by the Moore School and Tec de Monterrey in Guadalajara, Mexico. The 20-month program is aimed at senior Mexican managers in their 30s and 40s who continue to work while earning their degrees. They will graduate in May 2006.

The weeklong seminar in Vienna included lectures at the University of Bratislava in Slovakia; a tour of the United Nations building in Vienna; a visit to the HAAS manufacturing plant in Leobendorf; and global business leadership seminars on team building.

During the week in Austria, the EIMBA students spent time with Moore’s International MBA students who are currently enrolled in the school’s European program.

The second EIMBA group began their classes in Mexico Aug. 11. They will be coming to the Columbia campus for a seminar in late October. Companies represented in the second-generation class include Solectron, WaterhouseCoopers, Coopers & Lybrand, and IBM International.
