Two Master of Human Resources (MHR) students were recently honored by professional organizations.

Rebecca Copelan (on the left), a Clemson graduate who will complete her MHR degree
in December, was awarded a scholarship by the South Carolina Compensation and Benefits
Professionals association. She was selected through an application process in the spring semester,
which required students to write an essay about a problem facing compensation professionals and to
propose a solution.

Alana Swords (on the right), a University of Maryland graduate who entered the MHR
program this fall, has been named the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) Fellow. For
several years, the local chapter of SHRM has awarded one or more scholarships on an application
basis to a current student. SHRM will now contribute $2,000 annually for use by the MHR program to
attract a prospective student. Alana is the first such fellowship recipient.
