Abraham, an International MBA student in the Moore School of Business at the University of South
Carolina, was named runner-up in the South Carolina Collegiate Entrepreneurship Award Competition.
The award was presented at the fourth annual South Carolina Salute to Small Business held April 11
in Columbia.
Abraham started his company, Dirty South Productions, in 2004 while he was an undergraduate student at the University of South Florida. Dirty South Productions is a full-service entertainment promotions, marketing, and management company that specializes in putting on events catering to South Asian patrons.
In addition to coordinating concerts, conventions, and comedy shows, the company also manages disk jockeys for special events such as weddings and birthdays. Abraham’s vision for the company is to target other ethnic groups in the South and provide high-quality, ethnic-specific events including, club, concert, and comedy events.
The Collegiate Entrepreneurship Award is sponsored by the Spiro Institute for Entrepreneurial Leadership at Clemson University. This year’s first-place winner was Clemson University sophomore Armen Amirkhanian, who operates Entropy Studios, a company that specializes in 3-D designs of civil engineering projects.
The Salute to Small Business program and luncheon was sponsored by the U.S. Small Business Administration, the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce, and the South Carolina Coalition for Small Business and Entrepreneurship.
