Members of the undergraduate Carolina Finance Club traveled to New York City during their October fall break to tour the New York Mercantile Exchange, the Federal Reserve, and the Museum of American Financial History. The group, which recently formed the Carolina Investment Group (CIG), also attended a meeting of the Investment Analysis Group (IAG), a student investment club at NYU’s Stern School of Business. There they heard a presentation on Outback Steakhouse and listened to NYU students debate the merits of the company’s stocks. The experience will help the Moore students as they continue to structure and build their club.
“We met with Chairman of the Board Ken Wee and discussed how IAG had evolved,” says CFC President Katie Ford. “Ken and his organization proved to us that a group of students who are focused on understanding and analyzing the markets can thrive in a university.”
Moore students who went on the trip included Ford; Brad House, vice president of investments; Myles Pratt, vice president of professional activities; Jesse Ford, vice president of fundraising; Meridith Leach; Christina McCarthy; and Oliver Weilandt.
