Moore School  Receives International Accreditation for Quality Standards

COLUMBIA, S.C. –
Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina has achieved reaffirmation of accreditation of its undergraduate, master’s and doctoral degree programs in business by recent action of the Board of Directors of AACSB International – The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. The official announcement was made April 7, 2002, in Chicago at the Annual Meeting of the AACSB International.

As of April 2002, there are 424 accredited members – 404 in North America (394 in the U.S., eight in Canada and two in Mexico), 13 in Europe, three in Asia, one in Central America, one in the Middle East, and two in South America. Currently, 158 institutions also have achieved specialized accounting accreditation.

To achieve AACSB International accreditation, business programs must satisfy the expectations of a wide range of quality standards relating to curriculum, faculty resources, admissions, degree requirement, library and computer facilities, financial resources, and intellectual climate that all are mission-linked. During the accreditation process, Moore School of Business was visited and evaluated by business deans who are leaders in the field of management education, applying AACSB International accreditation standards that are widely accepted and adopted by the educational and business communities.

"To achieve this accreditation verifies that every facet of a business school’s operation and programming is of the highest quality and excellence," says Dean Joel Smith. "Moore School of Business is among a distinguished list of business schools around the world who have met the stringent standards of this reaffirmation of accreditation."
