Studio Audition Requirements

Trumpet

Candidates in the brass area should prepare two movements from different compositions of choice from the standard solo repertoire that show a contrast in style (one fast and the other slow and lyrical). Two single movement works are also acceptable. All-State materials are also acceptable for this degree only. Accompaniment is not required. Sight Reading and scales may be asked.

Suggested compositions may include: Brandt Etudes, Charlier Etudes, one movement from solo literature such as Kent Kennan Sonata, Haydn Concerto in Eb, Hummel Concerto in Eb, or the Halsey Stevens Sonata. No accompaniment is required.

)

Please prepare at least four significant compositions (or movements) of contrasting styles. The works should demonstrate a mature grasp of phrasing, tone, contemporary techniques, articulation, and general technique. Memorization is not required.

*Prescreening not required.
