Secondary Education at South Carolina

We can all recall an inspirational high school teacher. A graduate degree in secondary education can be your path toward becoming an inspiration to others.

Graduate Degrees

Offered through our College of Education, the Master of Teaching in Secondary Education is designed for current University of South Carolina undergraduate students who would like to become secondary education teachers in English, mathematics, science or social studies. The program typically requires one additional year of graduate-level classes beyond your bachelor's degree. The College of Education also coordinates with other UofSC college partner programs to offer the Master of Art in Teaching degree for career changers and other prospective graduate students who currently hold a bachelor's degree, pursued a professional career in something other than education and would now like to become a licensed teacher. On average, students complete this program in two years.
