  • 2023 Vocal Arts Conference @ USC, Sat., Sept. 30, 2023

Vocal Arts Conference

We invite you and your high school juniors and seniors to participate in the Vocal Arts Conference on the University of South Carolina campus. In reimagining our outreach programs, we sought to create an event that brings together the best and brightest young choral artists in our region to collaborate and make music together. Students will spend the day working with a guest clinician in an engaging, energized environment of high musical expectations. This year’s clinician will be Dr. Cameron Weatherford from Lee University in Cleveland, TN. Additionally, teachers will have the opportunity to attend professional development sessions scheduled during student rehearsals.

Student Selection

Each school is invited to bring up to eight junior/senior students (balanced SATB quartets are preferred, with no more than two students per part). Students must be excellent sight-readers, have good vocal technique, and display exemplary rehearsal behavior. In selecting students for participation, we ask that teachers prioritize students interested in studying music or who will continue to sing in college. Singers will learn all the music at the event; therefore, please select only those students who read music well and work hard in rehearsal.
